You're often undervalued working as a CNA
But what people don't realize is what we give each day
Patients always need more from us than help with simple chores
They need a friend with open ears, willing to give much more
Not only do we bathe them, clothe them, wipe away their tears
We share their joys and fears, helping them through their final years
For many patients, we become the best of friends they've had
So when they go they're not alone but leave us hurt and sad
We get attached and learn to love many of those we aide
But that's what makes our job so great. That's why we're CNAs!
(For the record, I'm not a CNA. I was paid a few dollars to write this brief poem for someone else and thought I'd post it there for any other CNAs out there who might appreciate it. Enjoy!)
